Open Studios

It’s just 2 weeks away to my Open Studios on the weekend of the 13th & 14th June. I will be showing some of my new work using silver and vintage Formica, bird and bud collections.  There will be some of my silverware to purchase too including silver bowls, espresso and honey spoons.   I have decided to have a sample sale and sell some of my framed brooches and old botanical favourites.  So I will have a 50% off area where you will find some fantastic pieces from my back catalogue of works at amazing prices.  I will also be using the weekend to launch my latest dates for adult jewellery workshops which run until Christmas this year.  The workshops on the Welbeck Estate are only open to the public twice a year so please don’t miss the opportunity to come and visit my unique workshop.
Hope to see you there!

New Work with Studio Bobbin

Studio Bobbin

For the past month I have been making some new work alongside two other well known British makers Simon Mount and Susan Disley to launch at the Selvedge Christmas Fair in London in November this year.  We will be known as Studio Bobbin.  Our work celebrates the love of the handmade, the vintage and the collectable.

We will be launching our Etsy shop and website soon – so keep a look out for Studio Bobbin!

Our headquarters is a 1968 American Shasta caravan where we make our wares and discuss the future! (photograph to follow)

Here’s a sneak preview of the 1950′s vintage formica and silver brooches I have been making. All to retail at £80. If you want one please get in touch through my website.

School of Jewellery

School of Jewellery

There is some long awaited exciting news! After a lot of requests and interest I will open a School of Jewellery within my workshop space at Welbeck from September 2013.

I will run two one day workshops a month and an evening class. I am really excited to do this! Having taught metal and jewellery on degree courses for over 15 years now I am really pleased to be at long last setting this up. I have wanted to run workshops for a long time but just haven’t had the space to do it well.

The dates for 2013 and 2014 are being finalised now along with the course content.

The workshops will be held on weekends throughout the year and the evening class on a week night for five weeks. Workshops will be aimed at beginners and those with a bit more experience and cover a wide range of subjects and handskills from ‘Make a ring’, ‘Make a brooch’, ‘Make a locket’, ‘Using found objects’ and some soldering masterclasses. I will also be touching on some silversmithing and plan to have ‘Make a silver spoon’, ‘Make a small copper bowl’ workshops. In 2014 I also want to have enamelling classes there too and bring some vibrant colour into the workshops and into my own work! Please register your interest in taking part in a workshop at the School of Jewellery through my ‘Workshops’ page on my website.  Booking information and a full workshop programme for 2013 and 2014 will be available soon!

Keeping up with my blog is also my next mission so look out regular posts from now on!
